Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure is one way to remove abnormal cells from the cervix. It uses a thin wire loop that cuts away a thin layer of the cervix.
Cryotherapy is another way to remove abnormal cells from the cervix. It essentially freezes off a portion of cervical tissue.
Colposcopy is performed when a Pap test shows changes that could lead to pre-cancer or cancer. It provides more information about the abnormal cells to ensure women’s wellness.
Our practice is the first in the Houston area to use DySIS, the latest colposcopy technology.

Myosure is a device that the surgeon inserts into your uterus through a hysteroscope to remove fibroids, polyps or a sample of endometrial tissue. This system allows their removal without having to cut or remove any part of your uterus.
If you have heavy periods, ablation may reduce or eliminate them by cauterization of the lining of the uterus.
Permanent sterilization can be done as an outpatient procedure in the hospital, for permanent, non-hormonal birth control.
Laparoscopic surgery is used for many procedures of the uterus, tubes and ovaries, including hysterectomy. Instead of a large abdominal incision, you may go home with three or four bandages.
Your doctor may recommend evaluation of the inside of your uterus to help diagnose problems with bleeding, polyps, or your IUD, for example. Anesthesia is available and recovery is fast.
Dilation and Curettage is used to diagnose and treat many conditions that affect the uterus, such as abnormal bleeding. A specimen of tissue is removed and examined for any possible abnormalities.
If you’re facing a benign (non-cancerous) gynecologic condition such as: endometriosis, fibroid tumors, heavy menstrual bleeding or pelvic prolapse, your doctor may recommend a hysterectomy. There are several approaches to removing the uterus, including minimally invasive da Vinci® Surgery. Dr. Sobarzo is highly trained and experienced in performing this gynecological surgery procedure.
With the da Vinci System, they can operate through a few small incisions instead of a large open incision. The da Vinci System provides them with a 3D HD® view inside your body. The da Vinci has special wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human wrist. As a result, da Vinci enables your surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision and control.
If your physician determines that it is necessary to remove your uterus in this manner, you can rest assured that you will be in good hands. Dr. Sobarzo has performed hundreds, if not thousands, of abdominal hysterectomies for women’s health. You can expect a short inpatient hospital stay after this surgery.
